Clothes Swap Maddness

My Semi-Annual Clothes Swap was pure success! I had 14 girls show up, a great turn out! And everyone brought bags and bags of clothes!

Bags for days....before we set up.

While some of the girls helped unpack bags and sort through things I started the waffle bar with a little help! I've never used a waffle maker before.

We sent our men off to do a little skeet shooting! I'm so glad they were around to carry in the endless trash bags and hampers of clothes!
I bought the waffle maker on the left at Walmart for $30 and it made perfectly golden waffles!
I put fresh blueberries right into the waffle maker on top of the batter and it made perfect blueberries waffles. We also made chocolate chip waffles. The hit though, I believe, was the Nutella spread!

Mmmmm..blueberry waffle with Nutella! Yummy!
Over all it was a huge success and some girls even left with two full trash bags of 'new' old clothes! Here are some of the best finds of the days!

A little bit naughty...but so much fun!
Infamous jeans that fit no one! We found a winner!
A new bag!
A great new dress, just in time for summer!
We found a bunch of old tee-shirts that no one really liked in the piles and someone threw out the idea to cut and tie them until they looked fun! I couldn't wait to jump in. I've been wanting to tie shirts for the past year but never have had the guts to just rip into a shirt. Here's what we ended up with! I believe I've found my hidden talent!

Happiness in a Bottle

Weekend Inspired

Originally inspired by my East Coast Soul Mate and Best Friend I've been hosting Semi-Annual Clothing Swaps since 2009.

Last swap I decided to step it up a notch from pot-luck to a champagne brunch and it was a big hit! I wanted all of my friends to come and reap the benefits of swapping even if they'd just donated or didn't have the time physically or emotionally to go through their closets. So I said, 'hey come have brunch at my place and just hang out!' And it worked! I almost doubled my attendance and nearly everyone found a little something to bring.

I've decided on a DIY Waffle Bar for brunch along with staples like eggs and bacon! Everyone has been invited to bring toppings of their choice! I'm looking forward to my banana and Nutella waffle! I'm hoping it will look something like this photo from Christine's Kitchen Chronicles!!!

I was also recently inspired by a girlfriend's Strawberry Cheese Cake Bites that will definitely be making an appearance at my clothes swap brunch! Find Jenny's yummy recipe on her blog Savory Style!

feeling: annoyed, by a kitten chewing on my pony tail

Girl's Night Out

I'm not the girl the frequents establishments with $15 drinks and $20 covers, but once a year I love to organize a Downtown Girl's Night!! This year's Girl's Night was suppose to include a pole dancing class but sadly the studio cancelled on us last minute! But, we still went out that night and had a blast...

Menu Recommendation: The cheese plate, a glass of Chianti Maestri Tuscana and the Chicken Parmesan

Party'd somewhat VIP style at FLUXX San Diego thanks to host Hope Newbegin...

And finished the night up with a drunken walk to Gaslamp Pizza!
